Dear SHINE family,
Just to let you know we are all O.K. down here in Tomball. We lost power for a little while and we had a big tree down along with some fencing, and a leaking roof but all in all we are safe. However we can't say that for alot of others.
As you all may know by now. Hurricane "IKE" came to TX and left a devastating impact on Galveston and surrounding areas within a 150 mile radius. Many lives were lost and thousands are without the basic needs (electricity, food & water) not to mention alot have lost their homes. We here at SHINE are trying to do our part in the relief efforts by helping those in need. If you can help financially please give to the Red Cross. It will be long time before peoples lives are back to normal.
If you would like to physically help please consider bringing a group down next summer to SHINE. We are offering 3 SHINE "Extreme" Camps for high school / college students to help in some of the hardist hit areas and 1 SHINE "City on A Hill" middle school work camp to help those in the not so hard areas. These will be on a first come- first serve basis. There is a also a possiblilty of a SPRING BREAK camp. (still working on it).
